The pancake project

Daddy, can’t we start a pancake restaurant together?

That was the question asked to me on a rainy saturday. “If I like your pancakes, other kids probably do as well” she said. The promise – let’s built an imaginary pancake startup and if you still want to do it once you are 15 years old, we start this business together.

This is my entrepreneurial legacy as a father, online business dude with great love for my awesome girls Jasmine (born 2013) and Minou (born 2018). Follow my kids journey here and hopefully we can inspire young entrepreneurs to do whatever they like as long as they just try and do it!

Our mission

Have fun, more pancakes to the people!

Let’s inspire a younger generation, many of whom might NOT grow up in entrepreneurial surroundings. Let’s make them see, try and engage around a real life topic that many kids love so much, that brings fun, food and happy feelings all around the planet. Pancakes!

For now, this is just a great excercise to learn my daughter the bigger picture, from purpose to product from product to profitable business with great customers that love her brand, the experience and the pancakes. Lets see where this ends up.

The pancakes

01

Recipes, ingredients, taste & looks

Pancakes need to taste nice, look tasty and the ingredients need to suit a variety of peoples dietary needs. First challenge is to understand customer needs and experiment with recipes to find THE best pancakes everybody want to buy and enjoy.

The experience

02

Concept & selling it!

Challenge nr. 2 is about packaging. Everything tastes better, looks better and is just experienced better if the whole package adds up. The menue, the chairs, the curtains, the colour of the restaurant, the site, the app, everything…

never promise a kid something you can’t keep

“I promised her to make a business plan together and if she grows older and she still wants it, my daughter and I will open a pancake house”

Roy Frijters, the pancake baking dad 🙂

The final touch

03

Eat in/out or home delivery + profitability

Physical business or online business, the kids need to discuss the delivery model and secure they understand how the heck they will make money to bake even more pancakes…

sharing is caring

Keep in touch!
